The Festival of Faiths takes place every year in Louisville, KY. This year I’ll be speaking with Wendell Berry, Gary Snyder, Patrick Holden, and others over the 5-day gathering. This year’s theme: “Sacred Earth, Sacred Self.” Dates are May 13-18.

Calvin Festival of Faith and Writing 2014

In just a few weeks I’ll be heading up to Grand Rapids to join a host of stellar writers for the 2014 Calvin Festival of Faith and Writing. Looking forward to giving a talk, sitting on a panel, and quaffing single-malt after hours with Scott Cairns.

Our State feature

Our State magazine commissioned me to write “A Prayer for North Carolina” for their Dec.2013 issue. I couldn’t, of course, simply write a straight prayer. Here’s what I did instead.
